Vicki Kovaleski

"I feel a responsibility to make my collectors know that my work involves my heart and soul..." And as her blots and dry brushings and back runs take shape, you know her work couldn't involve anything else. A watercolorist, designer and instructor, Vicki Kovaleski earned her Fine Arts degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1990. Years later, a pivotal entry into a prestigious art competition earned her the highest honor from juror Janet Fish, affirming and unleashing Vicki's passion and spurring the opening of Art & Soul: A Kovaleski Gallery. Vicki is a former president and is now a signature member of the Midsouthern Watercolorists Society, a member of the National Portrait Society, and has studied with many internationally famed authors and artists, including Jean Dobie and Charles Reid, while also having taken in the French and Italian Rivieras with Australia's No. 1 watercolorist, David Taylor.   She continues to study both nationally and internationally. Many of her inspirations have come from teaching students to journal with art in the south of France. Three of Vicki's works were recently purchased and celebrated by the UAMS Rockefeller Cancer Institute. She also founded successful community efforts such as Tie One On, benefitting Our House (shelter for the working homeless), and UALR's 6x6 event, honoring student and faculty works of art.  In 2013, a portion of Vicki's earnings will be dedicated to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
